The Greatest Easter Present Ever!!!

You may be expecting me to write about what Easter means to me and how Jesus died on the cross and all the great things that His resurrection means to the people of the Earth. Well, I won’t be doing that here. Instead, I’m going to share that same message written by a guest writer who doesn’t even know that I am about to post this.

You see, I had to work today and so I missed out on going to Church and later to my in-laws for Easter dinner. So this morning I got up at 4am and went downstairs to pack my lunch and get ready to leave for work when up on the counter I found two hand made Easter cards just for me. My daughter and my son both crafted them for me and left them sitting where I would find them before leaving. The image posted here is a picture of their cards.

It was the messages that they wrote in these cards that was the greatest present that I have ever received. As a parent I never expect a present from my kids, but today they suprised me in ways words cannot describe.

What does Easter mean? Here is what Zach wrote in his card (with spelling corrections made by me:)

Dear Dad,

I hope you have a great Easter with tons of gummy sharks and chocolate but here is a small reminder about what Easter is all about.

Once upon a time God talked with everyone but when sin started, God did not talk to them that much. So Jesus died on the cross for our sins so that we can be friends with God once more.

This is why we celebrate Easter!

What more is there to say? He summed it up in the most touching words that I have ever read in my life. This present is the greatest that could ever be given to me for this reason: Today the Lord gave me confirmation in a very tangible way that shows that He has taken a hold of their lives and He is raising them and steering them down a road to far greater things. I can’t think of anything more calming to the worries of being a dad.

To know who is in control of their lives… to know our efforts to plant seeds in their lives has worked… to see God watering those seeds and already beginning to see the vine come up from the ground…

Truly this is the greatest Easter present ever!
